As a language professional, I have over 10 years of experience in simultaneous conference interpretation, translation, and equipment and technician management.
After eight years of full-time work in the language industry, I have decided in January of 2013 to further my career as an independent interpreter and translator. Conference interpreting is my passion.
I believe I am the only qualified German conference interpreter in the Orlando, Florida, area and I cover all of Florida on a semi-local basis. Of course I will gladly travel anywhere in the U.S., as well as worldwide.
My native (A) language is German. I lived in Germany until 1995, having graduated from the Gymnasium (the German version of honors-level high school) and my military service in the German Luftwaffe (Air Force). Then I came to the U.S. to work for Disney World! It was supposed to be a one-year program, but it's where I met my future wife - a Florida girl and the reason why I live here!
I am near-native (B) in English. My entire higher education was in the U.S. I worked my way through university, climbing the ladder from Valencia Community College to the small liberal-arts Rollins College all the way to Georgetown University, where I received my Masters degree.
Today, I am passionate about interpreting. The feedback I receive is always great, regardless of the topic of the event. I'm often told I have a pleasant voice. I take great pride in my work, being at the same time blessed and cursed with an unwavering perfectionism. My goal is to become one of the top conference interpreters in the United States. Soon I will pass the stringent U.S. Department of State test for conference, seminar, and escort interpreters.
